Two arrested after youths attack police during house dispute in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: In a shocking incident under the Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar, two persons were arrested after a group of youths allegedly attacked police personnel who had arrived to resolve a dispute between a house owner and his tenant in the Ramanisahi locality. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mama Behera and Khaleswari Behera.
According to reports, the confrontation began on Thursday evening when the house owner, accompanied by his supporters, approached the tenant demanding that he vacate the premises. What started as a heated argument quickly intensified, prompting nearby residents to alert the police. A PCR team soon reached the spot to defuse the situation.
However, as the police attempted to mediate, a group of youths allegedly turned violent. They reportedly assaulted the police personnel and pelted stones at the PCR van, causing significant damage to the vehicle. In the attack, ASI Prafulla Kumar Parida sustained injuries to his face, while two other officers also suffered minor injuries.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident and are working to identify and apprehend others involved in the assault. The arrests of Mama and Khaleswari are the first step in ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
