Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: In a deeply disturbing incident, a young woman is battling for her life after her boyfriend allegedly slit her throat with a blade at Itamundi Square under Jashipur police station limits on Sunday night. The accused, reportedly from Anandapur in Keonjhar district, had been in a long-term romantic relationship with the victim, who hails from Maharajpur village in Mayurbhanj.

According to preliminary reports, tensions escalated when the accused found the victim speaking on the phone with another male friend. Unable to control his anger, he allegedly confronted her and demanded she end the conversation immediately. When she refused, the situation turned violent. The accused is said to have forcibly entered her rented accommodation, where he attacked her with a sharp blade, slashing her throat in a brutal manner.

Neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing her screams and immediately alerted the police. The critically injured woman was shifted to Jashipur Hospital, where doctors are making efforts to stabilise her condition. Police have detained the accused and have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the motive, sequence of events, and the weapon used in the attack. Authorities have assured strict action based on the findings.
