Crime Branch to conduct polygraph test on SI recruitment scam accused Shankar Prusty
Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: The Odisha Crime Branch is preparing to conduct a polygraph (lie detection) test on Shankar Prusty, the alleged mastermind behind the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, after he reportedly failed to cooperate during interrogation.
Sources said Prusty has been giving evasive and misleading responses to investigators despite being confronted with crucial evidence linking him to the irregularities. The Crime Branch aims to conduct the test to verify his statements and uncover discrepancies in his version of events.
Along with Prusty, Suresh Nayak, the owner of Silicon Tech, will also undergo a similar test as part of the ongoing probe. The agency is expected to seek court permission for the polygraph examination once the current judicial remand period concludes.
Prusty, who owns Panchsoft Technologies, was arrested from Uttarakhand near the Indo-Nepal border after remaining absconding since the scam came to light. He was brought to Bhubaneswar on Sunday for questioning.
The Crime Branch continues to probe alleged irregularities and data manipulation in the recruitment process, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring a transparent and impartial investigation.
