Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: A tragic incident occurred at Chheliapada village under Dharmasala police limits in Jajpur district on Thursday morning when a nine-year-old school student lost his life after being run over by a speeding truck.

According to reports, the victim, son of Ganesh Ghadai, was cycling along the village road when the speeding vehicle hit him, leaving him critically injured. He was immediately rushed to Dharmasala Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The heartbreaking accident triggered widespread anger among villagers, who blocked the road in protest. They demanded strict action against the driver, permanent restriction of heavy vehicles on the route, and adequate compensation for the grieving family. “The administration must take responsibility for this negligence and ensure such tragedies don’t recur,” said one protester.

Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, villagers have reportedly detained the truck driver. The fatal mishap has sent shockwaves across the area, reviving concerns over poor road safety and unregulated movement of heavy vehicles in residential zones.
