Odisha Bus Owners' Association temporarily halts agitation until October 31

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: The All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association has decided to temporarily suspend its statewide agitation until October 31.
Initially, the association had announced an indefinite strike starting from October 10 to protest against the Location-Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) and the 'Mo Bus' schemes introduced by the Odisha government.
The decision to put the agitation on hold comes after a constructive discussion with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), as stated by the association in a release today.
Under the LAccMI scheme, the state government plans to deploy a total of 1,600 buses to connect gram panchayats with block headquarters and block headquarters with district headquarters. Specifically, 1,000 buses are designated to connect gram panchayats with block headquarters, while 600 buses are intended to connect block headquarters with district headquarters. The association has appealed to the state government to include private buses in the scheme to enhance communication between block headquarters and district headquarters, according to sources.
"The state government has given us assurance that they will consider our request. A decision on this matter will be made during a high-level meeting on October 31," affirmed the association.
