Police bans high-decibel crackers after 9 PM, calls for safe and green Diwali
Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: In view of the upcoming Diwali celebrations, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena on Saturday issued a strict order banning the bursting of high-decibel firecrackers after 9 PM. The directive aims to ensure a peaceful, eco-friendly, and accident-free celebration across the city.
The DCP has urged residents to use only ‘green crackers’ and avoid loud or banned explosives that contribute to air and noise pollution. He also warned that strict action will be taken against those found selling crackers illegally or violating safety norms.
The order further stated that motorists caught driving under the influence of alcohol during the festive period will face immediate legal action, including vehicle seizure and arrest under the Motor Vehicles Act and other relevant laws.
To strengthen law enforcement, all police stations have been directed to keep patrol vans on high alert and intensify night-time surveillance across key areas. DCP Meena appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with the police to make Diwali a safe, noise-free, and joyous festival for all.
