Odisha DGP assures swift action in major cases
Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Wednesday assured that the Odisha Police are making determined efforts to solve three high-profile cases—the murder of Berhampur lawyer Pitabas Panda, the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, and the recent jailbreak from Choudwar jail.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 70th State Police Duty Meet at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, DGP Khurania, who was the chief guest, said major progress has been made in the lawyer’s murder case and that a breakthrough is expected soon.
On the SI recruitment scandal, the DGP warned that all accused would be arrested shortly. He added that the Crime Branch is investigating the case and that preventive measures have been strengthened to ensure transparency in future recruitment processes. “Instructions were issued to all district headquarters, Special Branch, and Crime Branch before the exam to prevent irregularities. This vigilance helped us nab the culprits early,” he said.
Regarding the Choudwar jailbreak, Khurania stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the two escaped inmates, Raja Sahani and Madhukant Kumar, reaffirming the police’s firm commitment to maintaining law and order.
