Farmer shot dead on Sikala hilltop near Andhra-Odisha border; land dispute suspected
Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: A shocking incident has come to light from the Sikala hilltop located near the Andhra-Odisha border in Rayagada district, where a man was shot dead under mysterious circumstances. The deceased has been identified as Pubula Paraya, a resident of Parbatipur Manyam district in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
According to preliminary reports, Paraya had been cultivating crops on the disputed hilltop land, which allegedly led to tension with some local villagers. It is suspected that miscreants opened fire on him over the land ownership dispute, resulting in his death on the spot.
Upon receiving information, a team from the Rayagada police rushed to the location and began an on-site investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while forensic experts have been deployed to collect evidence from the scene.
Although land rivalry is believed to be the primary cause, police officials stated that the exact motive behind the killing is still under investigation. Security has been tightened in the border area to prevent any escalation of tension between the communities involved.
