Odisha plans construction of new Lok Seva Bhawan, OBCC assigned master plan
Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: The Odisha government has taken the first step towards building a new Lok Seva Bhawan, aiming to provide modern infrastructure for administrative functioning. The Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC) has been entrusted with preparing a comprehensive master plan for the ambitious project.
Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, while addressing the State Assembly on Saturday, informed that OBCC is currently working on an expanded draft plan to accommodate present and future administrative needs. After the finalisation of the blueprint, a detailed cost estimate will be prepared and submitted for government approval, marking the next stage of the project.
Responding in a written reply to a query raised by Basta MLA Subasini Jena, the minister emphasized the urgency of constructing a new facility. He pointed out that the existing Lok Seva Bhawan, built 68 years ago, is struggling with ageing infrastructure and severe parking constraints, making it increasingly inadequate for smooth governance.
The proposed project reflects the government’s commitment to creating a modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly administrative hub in Odisha.
