Missing taxi driver found dead on Chandaka–Barang Road; murder suspected
Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: In a shocking incident, the body of a missing taxi driver was recovered on Chandaka–Barang Road on Saturday, days after he was reported missing. The deceased has been identified as Vidyadhar Sahu, a resident of Sishupalgarh in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Vidyadhar went missing on September 15, sparking concern among his family members. Matters turned alarming when his family received a ransom call on September 19, with the abductors demanding an exorbitant Rs 2 crore for his release. Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation.
The breakthrough came when locals spotted Vidyadhar’s abandoned taxi parked by the roadside. Upon conducting a search, police found his body lying beyond the guard wall. His family was immediately informed by Badagada police and later identified the deceased.
Preliminary findings point towards strangulation, as a towel was found tied around his neck. Additionally, an umbrella, liquor bottle, and wallet were recovered from the scene. Police suspect the case involves a planned abduction leading to murder and have initiated a detailed probe to trace those behind the crime.
