Odisha Vigilance arrests forest officer in Rayagada for possessing crores in disproportionate assets
Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: Odisha Vigilance officials on Saturday arrested Antarjyami Sahu, Forest Range Officer of Kashipur Forest Range in Rayagada district, for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets far beyond his known sources of income. The arrest followed extensive raids that unearthed wealth running into crores.
According to officials, Sahu was found in possession of five buildings, nine valuable plots, 263 grams of gold ornaments, and deposits worth around Rs 28 lakh in banks, post offices, and insurance policies. Vigilance sources said he could not provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets.
The raids were carried out simultaneously at nine locations linked to Sahu across Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, and Rayagada districts. The seized properties are currently being measured and valued by the Vigilance Technical Wing to ascertain their total worth.
A formal case has been registered against him under Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 28/2025, and Sahu will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore. Officials said further investigation is underway to trace additional assets and uncover possible involvement of others.
