Music director Abhijit Majumdar’s health under close watch; repeat brain MRI scheduled
Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Renowned Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar, who has been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for the last 14 days, continues to battle for recovery as doctors monitor his critical condition. According to the latest medical bulletin issued by the hospital, a repeat brain MRI is scheduled today to evaluate his neurological status and guide further treatment.
Majumdar has been suffering from pneumonia and was admitted to the emergency department on September 4 in a comatose state, requiring immediate ventilator support. While his neurological condition remains unchanged, doctors have reported encouraging signs of recovery from pneumonia, and he is being gradually weaned off ventilator support. In addition, his kidney and liver functions have shown improvement, offering a ray of hope.
The medical team, led by ICU and ECMO specialist Dr. Srikant Behera, is closely monitoring his progress. Despite the prolonged critical phase, doctors are optimistic about gradual recovery in certain aspects of his health.
A celebrated figure in Odia music, Majumdar has composed over 700 songs in Odia and Sambalpuri films and albums. His notable works include Love Story, Sister Sridevi, Golmaal Love, Sundargarh Ra Salman Khan, and Sriman Surdas.
