Odisha to add left-out beneficiaries to Subhadra scheme, assures Deputy CM Pravati Parida

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida on Wednesday announced that eligible women who were previously excluded from the Subhadra scheme will soon be brought under its ambit. The Subhadra scheme, launched to empower women through direct financial assistance, had faced challenges as some genuine beneficiaries were left out due to technical reasons.
Speaking after a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, Parida said, “Many deserving women could not avail of benefits because of issues related to ration cards, KYC updates, or other technical discrepancies. The government is committed to ensuring that no genuine beneficiary is deprived.”
Ahead of the meeting, the Women & Child Development Department had sought detailed reports from three key departments. The Transport Department provided information on women owning four-wheelers, while the Health Department verified the list of deceased beneficiaries. The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department was tasked with checking land records, particularly cases where women had sold paddy.
Parida assured that after careful verification of these reports, the excluded but eligible women will be duly included, ensuring fairness and transparency in the scheme’s implementation.
