Utkal University orders eviction of unauthorized occupants from staff quarters

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Utkal University has intensified its crackdown on illegal occupancy by issuing strict eviction orders to unauthorized residents living in its staff quarters. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagneshwar Dandapat on Wednesday directed all such occupants to vacate the premises by the end of the day, warning that forcible eviction will begin from tomorrow if the orders are ignored.
This move is part of the university’s ongoing campaign, which aims to reclaim encroached properties and restore institutional assets to their rightful use. The drive follows a similar crackdown on unauthorized hostel residents carried out earlier this month.
To ensure smooth execution, the university has sought police assistance. ACP (Zone-V) Biswaranjan Senapati confirmed that notices have been served and authorities are prepared to act if non-compliance continues. “Unauthorized occupants must vacate today. Otherwise, eviction will be carried out tomorrow with police support,” he said.
Addressing the issue of encroachments in surrounding slum areas, Senapati clarified that eviction there requires a formal process. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) must first issue notices before further steps can be initiated, though action will follow in due course.
