Security breach at Puri Jagannath Temple: Youth from Maharashtra posts photos online

Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri has witnessed yet another security lapse, sparking concerns about the effectiveness of surveillance and monitoring inside the 12th-century shrine. A youth from Maharashtra, identified as Vaibhav Dure Patil, allegedly clicked photographs inside the temple premises and later shared them on his Instagram account, where the posts quickly went viral.
Since photography is strictly prohibited inside the shrine, the incident has triggered widespread criticism and raised questions about how Patil managed to bypass security checks. Authorities are now investigating how the breach occurred and what action should be taken against the violator.
This is not an isolated case. The temple has witnessed a series of security violations in recent weeks. On August 28, a drone was spotted flying over the Srimandir premises, despite the area being a strict no-fly zone. Earlier, on August 4, a youth from Gujarat was detained with spy-camera-fitted spectacles, followed by another youth from West Bengal caught under similar circumstances the very next day.
The repeated breaches have underscored the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect the sanctity and safety of one of India’s most revered temples.
