Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla was shaken on Tuesday after the death of a final-year student under suspicious circumstances. The deceased has been identified as Anjaneya Das, a mechanical engineering student from Jajpur district.

According to reports, Das had left his hostel, Pulastiya, around 2 am and did not return. Hours later, his body was discovered under the Power Canal (PC) Bridge near the campus with multiple injuries. Shocked students and locals rushed him to Burla Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police immediately reached the site and began an investigation. While the exact cause of death remains unclear, preliminary findings suggest serious injuries, raising suspicions of foul play. Das’ family members have alleged that he was murdered, demanding a thorough probe into the circumstances leading to his death.

The incident has triggered widespread tension within the university community. Students expressed concern over campus safety and urged authorities to strengthen security measures. Meanwhile, police have assured that all angles, including accident and homicide, are being examined.
