Man from Bihar caught while attempting to scale Jagannath Temple wall in Puri
Bhubaneswar, Aug 16: A tense situation unfolded at the Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday when a man from Bihar was caught attempting to climb the sacred temple wall. The incident occurred near the Bherana Dwara, one of the southern gates of the shrine, raising concerns about security and the man’s intentions.
According to temple sources, the man, who had reportedly come for darshan of Lord Jagannath, suddenly tried to scale the wall and had already managed to climb 5–7 feet before being noticed. The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) immediately rushed to the spot and apprehended him, preventing any further disturbance.
After being detained, the man was handed over to the Singhadwar Police Station for questioning. Preliminary reports suggest that his mental condition may not be stable, though police have yet to confirm this officially.
Temple authorities and security officials are treating the incident seriously, given the sensitivity of the 12th-century shrine which attracts lakhs of devotees every year. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the man’s background, motive, and mental state.
