Rabid dog attacks three, including two minor brothers, in Sundargarh village; panic grips local

Bhubaneswar, July 1: Panic spread across Dhokamunda village under Mahulpada police station limits in Sundargarh district after a rabid dog brutally attacked three persons, including two young brothers, leaving them severely injured.
The terrifying incident took place late at night when the dog first attacked a villager who was sleeping on the veranda of his house. The dog bit the man on his cheek, tearing off flesh, and fled briefly before returning. Moments later, it pounced on two minor brothers—9-year-old Binod Nayak and his 6-year-old sibling—while they were asleep on the veranda in the absence of their parents.
The rabid animal bit Binod on the cheek, causing deep wounds. Hearing their cries, their father Sadhu Nayak rushed to their rescue, but the dog attacked him too, biting his thigh and inflicting serious injuries.
All three were immediately shifted to Banai Hospital for primary care. Considering the critical nature of their wounds, they were referred to Rourkela for advanced treatment.
Fearing more attacks, villagers are now living in constant fear. Locals have urged authorities to take swift action to capture the dog and implement stray dog vaccination drives to ensure public safety.
