Goods train derails at Cuttack railway station, services partially disrupted; no injuries reported

Bhubaneswar, June 30: Train services were briefly disrupted at Cuttack Railway Station on Monday morning after three wagons of a goods train derailed. According to the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the empty freight train was heading towards Paradip when it went off the tracks at Route No.8 (loop line) in the Cuttack Yard. Preliminary reports suggest the derailment was likely due to issues with track switching.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The main railway line that connects Bhadrak, Cuttack, and Visakhapatnam remains unaffected and fully operational. Similarly, rail movement towards Paradip has not been impacted, allowing most passenger and freight services to continue as scheduled.
Following the incident, railway officials swiftly mobilised a Relief Train equipped with machines, materials, and manpower to the site. Restoration work on the loop line is already underway, and the line is expected to be reopened soon.
A high-level probe has been ordered to determine the exact cause of the derailment. Senior railway officials and a technical team have arrived at the site to oversee the restoration and assess any damage to the infrastructure.
