Bhubaneswar, June 29: The Odisha government has appointed senior IAS officer Saswata Mishra as the new Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The official announcement was made through a notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department on Sunday.

Saswata Mishra, a 1996-batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the Principal Secretary to the Finance Department and Chairman of the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO). As per the government order, he will continue to hold these positions in addition to his new responsibilities in the Chief Minister’s Office.

“Shri Saswata Mishra, IAS (RR-1996), Principal Secretary to Government, Finance Department, with additional charge of Chairman, IDCO, is appointed as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Odisha,” the notification stated.

Mishra is widely regarded as an efficient and experienced administrator, and his appointment is seen as a strategic move by the state government to bring in a seasoned officer to aid the new Chief Minister. His continued role in key financial and industrial development departments underlines the government’s focus on governance continuity and economic growth.
