CM Majhi mourns death of three women in Pipili accident, announces ₹4 lakh ex-gratia

Bhubaneswar, June 28: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of three young women in a horrific road accident near Pipili on the Bhubaneswar–Puri National Highway (NH-317). In a compassionate gesture, he announced an ex-gratia compensation of ₹4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to the next of kin of the deceased.
The victims—Rimjhim Priyadarshani Sahu (20), Elena Das (20), and Kajal Das (20)—were reportedly en route to Puri on a scooter to participate in the Rath Yatra festivities. The tragic incident unfolded near Tarakaj, when their two-wheeler slightly collided with another vehicle, causing them to lose balance and fall onto the road.
Tragically, a government-run bus coming from behind allegedly lost control and ran over them. Eyewitnesses stated that the bus did not stop after the accident and fled the scene, leaving the young women critically injured. All three succumbed to their injuries on the spot.
The Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured that necessary action would follow.
