Employee succumbs to injuries after massive fire at Tarini Bastralaya in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, June 26: A tragic incident occurred in Bhubaneswar after a major fire broke out at Tarini Bastralaya, a popular garment store, on Wednesday night. One employee, Rakesh Sahu, a native of Puri district, who had sustained critical injuries while trying to douse the flames, passed away on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.
According to sources, the fire caused extensive damage, with goods worth over ₹1 crore reduced to ashes. Upon receiving information, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after a relentless two-hour operation.
Rakesh Sahu, displaying great courage, attempted to control the fire before emergency responders arrived. Unfortunately, he suffered severe burn injuries during the effort. Despite being shifted to the hospital immediately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The incident has left the local business community in shock. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. The tragedy highlights the urgent need for enhanced fire safety measures in commercial establishments across the city.
