Odisha Government takes tough stand on corruption: Minister warns of jail for offenders

Bhubaneswar, June 9: In a strong and unequivocal message, Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has warned corrupt government officials that the state government will adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Speaking to mediapersons, the minister declared, “The campaign against corruption has begun, and no one will be spared. Whoever engages in corruption will go to jail, regardless of their position or influence.”
The minister’s remarks come in the wake of a series of anti-corruption actions, including the recent high-profile raid on an IAS officer’s residence, during which officials seized Rs 47 lakh. The money was allegedly demanded as a bribe from a local crusher businessman, triggering widespread public outrage.
Pujari made it clear that both accepting and offering bribes are punishable offences and vowed that the government will pursue all cases with utmost seriousness. He urged the public to cooperate in the fight against corruption and refrain from participating in illegal transactions.
This strong stance is part of the government’s broader effort to clean up the administration and ensure transparency, accountability, and public trust in governance.
