Bus carrying pilgrims from Howrah to Puri crashes into trolley; five seriously injured

Bhubaneswar, June 7: In a tragic road mishap, at least five pilgrims sustained serious injuries and several others received minor wounds when a bus carrying 51 passengers from Howrah, West Bengal, to Puri rammed into a stationary trolley truck on National Highway 60. The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Santoshpur Square under the jurisdiction of Basta police station in Odisha’s Balasore district.
According to reports, the bus was on a religious trip to the holy city of Puri when it suddenly collided with the rear of a parked trolley. The impact was so intense that the front cabin of the bus was completely mangled, leading to severe injuries for passengers seated near the front.
Upon receiving information, personnel from the National Highway Patrol and Basta Police Station rushed to the scene. They immediately rescued the injured and admitted them to Basta Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the drivers of both the bus and the trolley reportedly fled the scene. Police have seized both vehicles and launched an investigation. An alternative bus was arranged to safely transport the remaining pilgrims to Puri.
