Central medical team arrives in Jharsuguda to combat rising Scrub Typhus cases

Bhubaneswar, Sep 30: Amid a surge in Scrub Typhus cases within the state, a team of senior doctors from the central government has arrived in Jharsuguda to assess the situation in the region.
This development followed a letter from Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, addressed to his Cabinet colleague, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Pradhan sought the personal intervention of Mandaviya in addressing the escalating Scrub Typhus cases.
The central team, which reached Jharsuguda on Friday, is scheduled to commence its evaluation by visiting Sundargarh today. Later in the day, they will assess the Scrub Typhus situation in Bargarh.
Pradhan emphasized the urgency of swift action to contain the outbreak and provide immediate medical assistance to the affected regions. He proposed the dispatch of a central medical team with expertise in treating infectious diseases, equipped to offer prompt medical relief and conduct essential Elisa tests for early diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, Pradhan urged the allocation of additional funds for medical supplies and awareness campaigns. He also stressed the importance of equipping public health laboratories in all district headquarters to handle such cases.
