Bhubaneswar, May 16: In a heartbreaking road accident, three members of a family lost their lives and three others sustained critical injuries after their car crashed into a roadside tree on National Highway 326 near Gaudguda Chhak, under the Baipariguda police station in Koraput district.

The incident took place when the family was traveling from Nayagarh to Malkangiri. According to police sources, the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a high-impact collision with a tree along the highway. The force of the crash was so intense that it claimed the lives of three passengers on the spot.

The injured were immediately rescued by locals and police and rushed for medical treatment. One critically injured person has been admitted to Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, while the other two are receiving treatment at the Baipariguda Community Health Center.

The police have seized the mangled vehicle and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The tragic incident has cast a pall of grief over the region, and further details are awaited.
