Odisha to set up world-class Science City in Bhubaneswar to boost innovation and learning

Bhubaneswar, May 8: In a significant move to promote scientific temper and innovation, the Odisha government has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar. The initiative aims to support scientific development and aligns with the government’s long-term vision of building a “Viksit Odisha” by 2036.
The announcement was made by Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Thursday. He said the Science City will be a hub of innovation, public engagement, and education in science and technology.
“I recently visited the Science City in Ahmedabad to study its design and operations. Inspired by that model, and under the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, we have decided to develop a similar facility in Bhubaneswar,” said Minister Patra. “This will be a milestone in advancing scientific progress in our state.”
He further shared that several Odia officers posted in Ahmedabad have shown interest in supporting the project through knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
In addition, the government plans to set up science parks, centers, or planetariums in each of Odisha’s districts to nurture scientific curiosity and education at the grassroots level.
