CM Mohan Majhi thanks PM Modi for greenfield airport approval in Puri

Bhubaneswar, May 6: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu for granting in-principle approval for the establishment of a Greenfield airport in Puri. The announcement, which also includes a similar approval for Kota in Rajasthan, marks a significant step in expanding air connectivity under the central government’s infrastructure development vision.
Taking to social media platform X, Majhi expressed his appreciation, writing, “Thanks to Hon’ble PM Sri Narendra Modi and Sri Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation for granting of in-principle approval for establishment of a Greenfield airport in #Puri. This decision will provide a major boost to religious tourism, regional development & overall connectivity in the region.”
The proposed airport is expected to greatly benefit Puri—a major pilgrimage and tourist destination—by facilitating direct air connectivity to metropolitan cities. This development will not only enhance religious tourism but also spur economic growth and infrastructure development in the surrounding regions.
The project aligns with the government’s broader objective of strengthening last-mile connectivity and making air travel more accessible to remote and important cultural hubs like Puri.
