Nepal Foreign Minister seeks probe into nepali student’s death at KIIT, expresses deep grief

Bhubaneswar, May 2: Nepal’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Arzu Rana Deuba, has expressed profound sorrow over the untimely death of Prisha Shah, a Nepali student enrolled in the B.Tech program at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Taking to social media platform X, Deuba extended her heartfelt condolences to Prisha’s family and confirmed that Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated diplomatic efforts to ensure a thorough investigation.
According to reports, Prisha, a resident of Birgunj in Nepal, was found dead in her hostel room (Room No. 111, Campus 4) under mysterious circumstances. The police have launched an inquiry, though the exact cause of death has yet to be officially confirmed. Preliminary findings suggest the possibility of suicide, but investigators are examining all angles.
Deuba stated that Nepal is coordinating with senior officials from the Government of India, the Odisha government, and the Nepali Embassy in Delhi to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, the Odisha government has expressed deep grief and assured full support to the grieving family. The investigation is ongoing.
