Former MLA Kusum Tete urges CM to act against rampant coal smuggling in Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar, April 7: Raising serious concerns over rampant coal smuggling in the Telendihi reserve forest of Sundargarh district, former MLA and senior BJP leader Kusum Tete has written to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, demanding strong and immediate action to curb the illegal activity.
In her letter, Tete highlighted that despite multiple raids conducted by the district administration—including a major operation on April 6—coal smuggling operations continue unabated. She alleged the existence of a well-organized and deeply rooted syndicate that has managed to evade law enforcement, with no significant arrests made so far.
Tete further criticized the apparent lack of progress despite extensive media coverage, questioning the effectiveness of the enforcement measures. “Despite the raids and startling revelations, the kingpins of the coal crime syndicate are still at large, as neither the news channels nor the officials have reported any arrests or breakthroughs,” the letter stated.
Appealing for urgent intervention, she urged the Chief Minister to order a high-level probe into the illegal coal trade and take stern measures to safeguard public resources.
