Rs 80 lakh cash and gold looted from house in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar, March 25: A gang of armed robbers looted cash and gold worth ₹80 lakh from a house in Jahangirabad village under Salepur block in Cuttack district. The daring robbery took place late last night when four miscreants broke into the residence of Bijay Mohanty, a local businessman, by entering through the roof.

According to reports, Mohanty had stored the cash and gold for his daughter’s upcoming wedding. The robbers, wielding firearms, terrorized the family members at gunpoint before escaping with gold jewellery worth ₹50 lakh and cash amounting to ₹30 lakh. The family, shaken by the ordeal, remained helpless as the criminals swiftly executed their plan.

After receiving information about the incident, Salepur police rushed to the spot and began an investigation. A forensic team has also been deployed to gather evidence. Authorities suspect that the robbers had prior knowledge of the valuables inside the house. Police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and conducting raids to track down the culprits.
