Boulder derails train services in Odisha's Koraput district
Koraput, Sep 24: Train services in Odisha's Koraput district were disrupted when a large boulder tumbled onto the railway tracks between Manabar and Jirati stations during the early hours of Sunday.
According to preliminary reports, the incident transpired during the transportation of sand and stones for a railway doubling-line project. At approximately 3 a.m., a landslide occurred, causing substantial amounts of earth and boulders to cascade onto the railway tracks, resulting in significant inconvenience.
Eight train services have been canceled, and the routes of numerous other trains had to be altered. The Jagdalpur-Vishakapatnam Express has been temporarily halted at Koraput railway station, and passengers on several other trains find themselves stranded at the station.
The landslide also inflicted damage on several electric poles, with reports indicating that approximately ten of them were fractured during the incident.
