Heatwave alert issued for six Odisha districts on March 13-14

Bhubaneswar, March 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in six districts of Odisha on March 13 and 14. According to the IMD forecast, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda are expected to experience extreme heat at one or two locations.
With rising temperatures, the IMD has cautioned that heatwave conditions could pose health risks, particularly to children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing medical conditions. Additionally, dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the state in the coming days.
“Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places over Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda,” the IMD bulletin stated. The weather office has advised residents in these areas to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
