Odisha identifies 3,738 Bangladeshi nationals, deportation under consideration

Bhubaneswar, March 10: The Odisha government has identified 3,738 Bangladeshi nationals residing across the state, with their deportation under active consideration, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday.
Responding to a query raised by BJP MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, CM Majhi stated that efforts are underway to track and take action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Odisha. The highest concentrations of such nationals have been found in Kendrapara (1,649), Jagatsinghpur (1,112), Malkangiri (655), and Nabarangapur (106).
Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed that over the past 10 years, 41 Bangladeshi nationals have been involved in various criminal cases across the state. In light of this, all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been instructed to identify infiltrators within their jurisdictions.
The Odisha government is working in coordination with the Central authorities to assess further action, including deportation procedures. Security agencies are also monitoring the situation to prevent illegal migration and maintain law and order.
