Suresh Pant appointed as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests

Bhubaneswar, March 1: Senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Suresh Pant has been appointed as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF) in Odisha. Pant, a 1990-batch IFS officer, replaces Debidutta Biswal, a 1988-batch officer, who previously held the position.
The Odisha government issued an official notification regarding the appointment, signed by Additional Secretary Manoj Kumar Mohanty. The notification states, “In pursuance of Note-2 of Rule 3(2)(iv) of IFS (Pay) Rule, 2016, Shri Suresh Pant, IFS (RR-1990) is appointed as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Odisha in the Apex Scale (Level-17 in the Pay Matrix).”
Prior to this appointment, Pant was serving as the Managing Director (MD) of Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) Ltd, a role he assumed in September 2021. With extensive experience in forest management and conservation, Pant is expected to bring strategic leadership to Odisha’s forestry sector, focusing on wildlife conservation and sustainable forest practices.
