Class 10 girl gives birth during HSC exams in Jajpur

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: In a shocking incident, a Class X student appearing for the High School Certificate (HSC) examination in Odisha’s Jajpur district gave birth to a baby girl while fasting on Maha Shivratri. The incident took place on Wednesday at the Barachana Community Health Centre (CHC) under Ramachandrapur police limits.
According to reports, the student had already appeared for two exam papers and was observing a fast for the festival. However, she suddenly fell ill and was rushed to Bari CHC for treatment. To the shock of medical staff, she went into labor and delivered a baby girl at the facility. As her condition worsened after childbirth, she was immediately shifted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced care.
Her family, distressed by the incident, has stated that they will pursue legal action once she recovers. Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) AK Sharma confirmed, “Police have been informed and will investigate the matter. She was supposed to appear for another exam today, but her health required urgent attention. Further legal action will follow.”
