Teacher rescued after three-day abduction over cryptocurrency dispute

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: In a dramatic rescue operation, Karanjia Police have successfully freed a school teacher who was abducted three days ago in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. The kidnapping was reportedly linked to a dispute over cryptocurrency trading. Four individuals, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the crime.
The victim, Rabindra Nath Singh, a teacher at Dhuduku Primary School in Jashipur block, was kidnapped on February 10 while returning home from school. According to reports, the miscreants forcibly took him in a car and later transferred him to another vehicle near Kalikapur Chhak on National Highway 220.
When Singh failed to return home, his wife lodged a complaint at Karanjia police station. Acting swiftly, police formed three teams and launched an investigation. After three days, they traced and rescued Singh from a forest in Talcher, Angul district.
The arrested accused have been identified as Saubhagya Das, Brahmananda Naik, Parvathi Kumar Mohanty, and a minor. Police also seized a mobile phone and a vehicle used in the crime. Authorities suspect that the abduction stemmed from Singh’s alleged misappropriation of ₹15 lakh, and further investigation is ongoing.
