Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his son following a heated family dispute in Banshpani village under the Joda police station in Keonjhar district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Sethi, while his son, Bikash Sethi, was arrested on Monday in connection with the crime. According to reports, Bikash had been pressuring his father to permit his marriage to a girl of his choice. However, Ajay insisted that his son first focus on building a career and securing financial stability before getting married.

This disagreement reportedly led to frequent arguments between the two. On Sunday, a verbal altercation turned violent, and in a fit of rage, Bikash allegedly attacked his father with a wooden log. Ajay sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to Tata Steel Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Following a complaint filed by Ajay’s wife, Gurubari Sethi, the police arrested Bikash and launched an investigation. Authorities are interrogating him to determine the exact sequence of events and any additional factors that may have contributed to the crime.
