BPUT Hackathon 2024 supported by STPI

BPUT Hackathon 2024 supported by STPI

Bhubaneswar/ Rourkela – Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) along with its organizations like EmTek CoE, STPINext supported BPUT Hackathon 2024 which was successfully concluded at BPUT, Rourkela campus. Organized by BPUT, the Hackathon  was a premier event designed to foster innovation, creativity, and technological brilliance among students of its affiliated colleges. Organized in collaboration with leading technology and industry partners including served as a dynamic platform for students to come up with innovative ideas to tackle real-world challenges through groundbreaking solutions in cutting-edge tracks like Accessibility, Industry 4.0, and Data Mining, AI & ML.

Kicking off on December 20, 2024, the Hackathon drew participation from 137 teams representing 43 BPUT-affiliated colleges, of which 36 teams from 18 colleges were shortlisted after rigorous mid-evaluations to compete in the Grand Finale. The finale, held at BPUT Campus, Rourkela on January 4–5, 2025, witnessed the participation of 161 students out of which 122 boys and 39 girls who spent in a high-energy for 36-hours coding Hackathon.

A total of 16 teams were declared winners across eight problem statements and Each winning team received a cash prize of ₹30,000, while runners-up were awarded ₹20,000. The jury, comprising industry leaders from NALCO, STPI, STPINext, DoT, Genex Lab, and Mythika Technology, selected the winners based on innovation, feasibility, and societal impact. Beyond the prizes, winners earned the opportunity to engage with industry professionals and mentors, and can explore incubation support at STPI CoEs enabling them to become  successful startups.

The event culminated with the Valedictory Ceremony on January 5, 2025, graced by Chief Guests Shri Surya Kumar Pattanayak, Director, STPI-Bhubaneswar, Prof. Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal, Vice Chancellor, OUTR, Prf. Amiya Kumar Rath, Vice Chancellor, BPUT and alongside other luminaries.

Addressing the Participants, Chief Guest Surya Kumar Pattanayak, Director STPI  accentuated that  “Every prototype created during this Hackathon is not just a project but a potential innovation, a step towards a better world, and a foundation for societal transformation.”  He also announced that that Winners of this Hackathon, shall have an opportunity to explore working in STPI COEs lie EMTEK CoE, Rourkela and Bhubaneswar & Electropreneur Park as Pre-Incubatee and can avail all facilities of a Startup for making a successful entrepreneurship journey. He also remarked that innovation is not about winning a competition—it is about making a difference. Every participants in BPUT Hackathon  is a winner because they have dared to dream, dared to build, and dared to innovate making them different from others  who can conquer the world through innovative minds, Skill and dedication. 

It is pertinent to mention that, key role in promoting IT exports from the country and growth of IT sector of the State STPI is setting up of Centre of Entrepreneurship  (CoE) for the startups, Innovators and Students in various niche technology, for accelerating innovation, promoting adoption of data-driven decision making by enterprises. 

In Odisha , STPI has established three such CoEs, one is Electropreneur Par for ESDM Startups, Others are in Virtual & Augmented Reality (VARCoE) at IIT, Bhubaneswar and third CoE in Emerging Technologies like Industry 4.0, AI, ML, Analytics & Cyber Security at Bhubaneswar and BPUT, Rourkela.

Prof. Amiya Kumar Rath, VC, BPUT and other dignitaries Congratulating the Winners & Participants for their technical brilliance and creatively and remarked that the Hackathon becomes a breeding ground for future startups and technological breakthroughs, showcasing BPUT’s dedication to foster technology and building a brighter and innovative future.
