BJD to protest against price hikes in Bhubaneswar on January 6
Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced plans to stage a protest in the state capital on January 6, targeting the government's alleged inability to curb rising prices of essential commodities. The demonstration will proceed from Lower PMG to Lok Seva Bhawan, senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma revealed during a press conference.
Burma criticized the central government, accusing it of failing to address soaring prices since the advent of the "double-engine government." He specifically pointed out the government's inability to reduce petrol and diesel prices despite favorable global crude oil rates. Burma emphasized that the BJD would continue its fight for the rights and dignity of Odisha’s citizens.
Additionally, BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik accused the state government of neglecting the welfare of common people. She highlighted that former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had always prioritized public welfare, contrasting this with the alleged failures of the current administration. Mallik warned that if no action is taken to address the issue, the party would escalate its protests to the district level.
