Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling announced on Monday that the Odisha government will implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the state-sponsored Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) starting February 2025.
Dr. Mahaling revealed that approximately 3.5 crore residents of Odisha will receive individual health cards, ensuring comprehensive access to health insurance benefits. He noted that a Central team has already completed the necessary survey for the Ayushman Bharat scheme’s implementation in the state.
Additionally, the state government plans to increase the number of medical and nursing colleges in 2025 to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
An MoU will soon be signed to integrate Ayushman Bharat with GJAY, which replaced the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. Beneficiaries will have access to free medical treatment in over 27,000 empanelled hospitals across India. Coverage includes up to ₹5 lakh for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries, while GJAY offers ₹5 lakh for rural and ₹6 lakh for urban families.
