Odisha Government claims normal potato supply amid political blame game

Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: In a recent development regarding the ongoing potato crisis in Odisha, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of engaging in "dirty politics" concerning the tuber, aimed at discrediting the BJP government in Odisha.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Patra claimed that an artificial scarcity of potatoes had been manufactured to tarnish the state government’s image. He expressed confusion over Banerjee's actions, questioning, "I fail to understand why she first halted potato supplies to Odisha and then later agreed to restore them."
Patra reassured the public that potato prices in the market are currently stable and predicted they would decrease further in the coming days. He reiterated, "We no longer face a scarcity of potatoes. When availability diminishes, prices tend to rise. However, potatoes are now adequately supplied, and prices are nearly back to normal." He emphasized that the situation would improve further as supply levels increase.
