Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra revealed that the BDA has already initiated the land acquisition process for the project.
Planned across Malipada, Daspur, and Gothapatana, the New City is designed to accommodate around 2 lakh residents and will function as a solar city, emphasizing renewable energy and sustainability. According to BDA Vice-Chairman Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, the project will require ₹8,169 crore, with ₹6,069 crore allocated for built-up space and ₹2,100 crore for infrastructure. The Centre will extend financial assistance for the initiative.
To enhance connectivity, a four-lane road will be constructed from Naka Gate Square to Kateni, alongside additional connecting roads to ease traffic congestion. The city will also feature Mo Bus services with e-buses and integration with the Bhubaneswar Metro Train system.
