Capital Hospital to expand ICU beds to 40, boosting critical care facilities

Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: The number of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar is set to increase from the current 16 to 40, announced Aparajita Sarangi, Chairperson of the Capital Hospital Rogi Kalyan Samiti and Bhubaneswar MP, on Tuesday. This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for critical care services at the hospital.
Highlighting the growing patient inflow, Sarangi noted that approximately 1,432 dialysis cases are being handled monthly, with each bed currently supporting three sittings daily. To address this demand, the hospital management has been directed to prepare an action plan to increase bed utilization to four sittings per day, ensuring better access for patients.
Further decisions included reopening the Mission Shakti Café by involving a women’s self-help group to manage its operations. The Governing Committee also resolved to expedite ongoing construction projects to enhance infrastructure and improve healthcare delivery at the hospital, providing timely and efficient services.
