Gold worth lakhs stolen in three separate incidents in Balasore
Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: Gold jewelry and cash worth several lakhs were stolen from three houses in separate incidents in the Treasury Colony under Soro police limits in Balasore district on Monday night. The miscreants targeted rented houses, leaving the residents in shock.
In the first incident, thieves looted Rs 1,200 in cash and 10 grams of silver coins from Kartik Jena, a resident of Aruha area staying in a rented house in the colony.
In the second case, Saroj Kumar Das from Nizampur under Kamarda police limits reported the theft of two gold chains, six gold rings, a mangalsutra, a silver bracelet, three silver rings, four toe rings, six silver coins, and Rs 6,000 in cash from his home.
The third victim, Amarendra Tripathi from Avana village, lost Rs 53,840 in cash and two silver rings, but jewelry worth Rs 7 lakh was left untouched.
The total value of the stolen items is estimated at Rs 3.6 lakh. Police have launched an investigation.
