Cyclone Dana causes Rs 616.19 crore in damages across 14 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, announced on Wednesday that the state has received the final assessment report detailing the extensive damages caused by Cyclone Dana. The cyclone, followed by severe flooding, impacted around 131 blocks across 14 districts, leaving a trail of destruction.
According to the report, Cyclone Dana inflicted an estimated Rs 616.19 crore in damages, affecting multiple state departments, including Energy, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development. Crop loss alone is valued at approximately Rs 82.92 crore, while damages to houses amount to Rs 21 crore.
Minister Pujari highlighted the severe toll on public property, with the total damage to state infrastructure assessed at Rs 512.26 crore. “This is the final report on Cyclone Dana’s impact, and the file is now under processing,” he stated, noting the focus on quickly distributing financial assistance to affected departments and districts.
The minister assured that relief funds would be allocated within the next few days to ensure timely support reaches those affected by the disaster.
