Miscreants kill young woman, rob her jewelry in front of husband
Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old woman was brutally murdered, and her jewelry was stolen by assailants after tying her husband to a tree near Khudubi Chhak in the Nanda police jurisdiction of Koraput district on Monday evening. The victim, identified as Sabi Khara, was killed in front of her husband, Mahendra Khara.
According to reports, the couple was returning home on a bike after applying for the Subhadra Yojana when five miscreants intercepted them around 7 pm. The attackers assaulted Mahendra, tying him to a tree before violently assaulting Sabi. They robbed her of her gold jewelry and murdered her in cold blood right before her husband’s eyes. The assailants then fled the scene, leaving Mahendra injured and traumatized.
Nandapur Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Mamata Kumari Panda and her team arrived at the scene shortly after being notified. They rescued Mahendra, who was then taken to the Nandapur Community Health Centre for treatment. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and have sent Sabi's body for a post-mortem examination. Officer Panda stated, “We are probing the matter, and the actual circumstances will come to light after the investigation.”
