Body of missing class VIII student found in Mahanadi River
Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: In a tragic incident, two school students drowned in the Mahanadi River near Balisahi in the Jagatpur area of Cuttack city while bathing after their half-yearly examination. The bodies of both eighth-grade students from Rajkishore Vidyapitha were recovered—one on Friday and the other today.
Reports indicate that 11 students went to the riverside instead of returning home after completing their exams. Two of them decided to enter the river for a swim, but unfortunately, both drowned. Upon receiving the distress call, fire service personnel and two teams from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) promptly arrived at the scene to conduct search operations. After hours of searching, one body was retrieved, while efforts continued for the second.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the community, prompting local police to initiate an investigation. Detailed reports are awaited as the investigation unfolds, shedding light on the tragic event.
