Son allegedly kills mother over financial dispute in Jharsuguda
Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly killed his mother over a financial dispute in Limadhi village under the Rengali police station in Jharsuguda district.
The deceased, identified as Bhagabati Mirdha (60), was allegedly murdered by her middle son, Gajadhar Mirdha. According to the police, Bhagabati had three sons, with the eldest and youngest being employed, while Gajadhar, the middle son, was addicted to alcohol and unmarried.
Gajadhar frequently spent money on liquor, leading his parents to stop providing him with funds. After the family received insurance money, which was deposited in the names of the other two sons, Gajadhar demanded that Bhagabati hand over her ATM card to access the funds. Fearing he would waste the money on alcohol, Bhagabati refused.
In a fit of rage, Gajadhar slapped his mother and then attacked her with a brick, hitting her in the chest. Later, he informed the family, telling them she had fallen and that her condition had suddenly deteriorated.
The family believed him and rushed Bhagabati to Lakhanpur Health Center, and then to a private hospital as her condition worsened. Sadly, she passed away during treatment at the hospital.
