Odisha Police DG reviews communal tension in Bhadrak and Dhamnagar

Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: Odisha Police Director General (DG) YB Khurania visited Bhadrak and Dhamnagar to assess the situation following communal tensions in the region. He was accompanied by senior officials, including the Bhadrak District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP).
After reviewing the situation in Dhamnagar, DG Khurania continued his assessment in Bhadrak. He urged the public to avoid falling prey to false propaganda and rumors circulating on social media, assuring them that the police were taking necessary measures. “There is no need for fear. The police are fully responsible, and the situation will improve soon,” he stated, advising people to refrain from spreading or reacting to misleading posts online.
He emphasized that the situation is nearly back to normal, with ongoing patrolling by police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF). Full normalcy is expected within 2-3 days. The DG also encouraged citizens to report objectionable social media content to local authorities.
Meanwhile, life is gradually returning to normal in Bhadrak and Dhamnagar. Internet services remain suspended across Bhadrak district until tonight, and preventive measures under Section 144 have been imposed in Bhadrak Town, Dhamnagar, and Dobal, with residents advised to avoid gatherings and rallies.
